Long Ride 04:47
I've been thinking 'bout that eastbound train Those old steel rails know that nothing ever stays So I get the rhythm and, I pay the piper for a tune Now where I'm going I ain't taking no shoes That whistle's blowing and I won't be disabused Let's skip the middle man, and take this party on the road Feeling crazy, ain't it just like Saturday when Sunday come and creep on in My bag is ready, take me on a ride again… again… I've been waiting for the seasons to change To go out dancing in the warm spring rain To share a melody, and to have a little fun Wind blows harder as we're rolling along You're a whiskey drinking woman, and I got a traveling song Falling faster now, I think we know its time to fly Feeling crazy, ain't it just like Saturday when Sunday come and creep on in My bag is ready, take me on a ride again… again… When that skyline in the east begins to shine I get to holding on to memories and thinking 'bout the time These old wheels keep on rolling man, there ain't no need to turn around Feeling crazy, ain't it just like Saturday when Sunday come and creep on in My bag is ready, take me on a ride again… again…

It’s a long, long road that I’ve been traveling down And I’m tired, oh I’m tired down to the marrow of my bones I’m gonna start looking forward, no I’m not looking back It’s time to make a change, and take a whole new track Noooooo… Lord I ain’t lookin’ back I have seen, the higher mountain Lord she calls to me, and I reply And that feeling, oh that feeling, lord It’s gonna come to me, one day before I die (Now I believe) I believe it was meant to be (In this world) In this world what will be will be (They say that love) Say that love it will set you free But I feel like there’s a cage… a-…round… me For now I’m heading down that river Water song tell me what I need to know When my sorrows don’t deliver Back to my home, is where I want to go (Now I believe) I believe it was meant to be (In this world) In this world what will be will be (They say that love) Say that love it will set you free But I feel like there’s a cage… a-…round… me So take me, oh take me Past the horizon, to the coming of the day This big world, just keep on spinning Throw me softly, and fade away

I dig out my headlamp and find my old boots A maglite in my pocket that I don’t care if I lose Call my two best friends, we drive west all night By morning we’re ready to dive As we crawl through the entrance I’m no longer alone We commune with the artist of water and stone I feel the tight squeeze as the cave narrows down At last it feels like home Down in the deep, deep underground I breathe the cool air and feel peace ‘Cause you were never there You will never be there Oh love to you is a polished little stone You put it in your pocket and take it home alone You didn’t want me more but you want to be adored That’s the way you found to be you But my love is like a river or a vein It exists when it flows, no edges contained I want to be adored but I wanted you more I’m gonna find my way back to me Down in the deep, deep underground I breathe the cool air and feel peace Cause you were never there You will never be there Down in the deep, deep underground I breathe the cool air and feel peace ‘Cause you were never there You will never be there I dig out my headlamp and find my old boots A maglite in my pocket that I don’t care if I lose Call my two best friends, we drive west all night By morning we’re ready to dive

Knock 03:15
Knock, knock sounds through so the music goes up Turn back to the noise so it won’t interrupt It’s cold out there and it’s no fun to stop From living the life, cause it’s far to the top Some beautiful nights with some beautiful girls Have been retold and retold like in another man’s world It ain’t easy painting pictures with your eyes blurred over But making a mess is more fun than a masterpiece sober Staying up late, will make you miss the sunrise But forgetting the past helps the future surprise Cause who wants to wake up and remember what’s lost When it’s easier to live life without feeling the cost With only a few years gone by and nothing to show Just keep on going without letting them know To stop and reach out for a hand that’s not there Will only make it clear that this train’s gone nowhere When we see the sun rise and the dark turn to light Nighttime peels away and the truth is what’s right The music stops, the door opens, and life breaths a sigh And we see who’s been left in the cold, ready to die

Well don’t, don’t she looks the part In her pearls, gold, and white linen Perfect hair, shiny pink nails Well but don’t, don’t you be fooled She’s done well with the deck she was dealt But nothing turned out as she planned She was a tomboy as a child She used to be free to run wild All the boys in the hood knew Better not pick a fight with her Or you best go run and hide Cause she’s a rebel on the inside Hey, she’s a rebel on the inside Well she’s not like the other girls She came from overseas And they called her Diamond Dee And the boys, the boys they came calling But she turned every last one down She had med school in mind But the war, the war was a ragin’ So they made her stay close to home You have two options they said You can be a wife and a mother Or a mother and a wife, It’s your choice And keep your rebel on the inside Hey, keep it on the inside After the kids were grown She had some business of her own Dog breeding, diamond dealing First responding and day trading There’s a Mercedes in the drive But she’s a rebel on the inside She carries herself like a queen But there’s a side to her that’s unseen Never without her pride She’s a rebel on the inside, Hey… She’s a rebel on the inside, Hey… Keep your rebel on… Keep your rebel on… Keep your rebel on … the inside…

I never told her what she really meant to me I didn’t want to lose her like the ones before If I’d said what was on my mind I’d of surely made her mine But instead I watched her walk right out my door So I set out walking, I didn’t know where I was bound Like my tired and broken heart I didn’t care So I just laid my head upon the weary ground and I looked up at the sky And I tell you what I saw up in the air I saw a shadow I saw the lightning I saw an angel The night I met her, we’d been staring at the moon But I could see she had the sunlight in her smile Her conversation like a summer breeze, awakening my ‘musement Dreams of her, my Cleopatra of the Nile The days went on like this, with casual hellos We were friends but I wished she’d see in me the same But I didn’t have the patience and she didn’t have the time To reposition all the pieces of this game I saw a shadow I saw the lightning I saw an angel Time runs out, before you ever know its gone My Cleopatra found her Antony the same So meanwhile I’m just gonna settle down in the aspens in the shade And wait for thunderheads to cool me with their rain I saw a shadow I saw the lightning I saw an angel I saw a shadow I saw the lightning I heard the thunder And it pulled me under I saw a shadow I saw the lightning I saw an angel

It ain’t easy being me but it’s harder being you, All that wandering has warn your soles down low. You tell me that you’re free and that you’re only passing through If they can’t hold you then you never gotta let go. But I can’t complain because baby you’re just my type Don’t want someone sticking around for too long We really are the same, but I’m no longer in flight Just waiting for the next one to come along. Did you beat me, horizon? Did you find me, home? Are you looking for me, romance? Or did I let you walk out the door? We are one in the same but I’m some years down the road Don’t need to run to find something new I’m starting to face the pain and lightening down it’s load I hope we meet again when that time comes for you. But I want you to move on, to take another turn Lord knows I needed all of my mistakes. Go follow the sun, even till it makes you burn You gotta find yourself no matter it takes. Did you beat me, horizon? Did you find me, home? Are you looking for me, romance? Or did I let you walk out the door?

Lady Luck 04:36
I once was a gamblin' man Never had a winning hand Til one night I met Miss Sally Ann With a smile on her face and an ace in her hand. Old Jack Henry came through the door. Said I see you have a new lady friend. She better bring you some lady luck You owe me half a grand and your Model A truck. Step up boy it's time to roll the dice. I saw the look in his eyes, no time to think twice. But Sally was quicker, said please allow me. She counted out loud - one - two three. What came next is hard to say she blew on the dice and threw them away. Someone was sure they saw snake eyes. Shouts rang out and bullets began to fly. I had blood on my clothes but it was not my own Sally was there - we had escaped the fray. And that's the story of my lady luck I still have Jack Henry's money and my Model A truck. I once was a gamblin' man Never had a winning hand Til one night I met Miss Sally Ann A smile on her face and a gun in her hand.

You make me feel like a hundred dollars, baby Once or twice a month Oh I adore you kiss, it blunts the edges of my loneliness But I wonder, is that enough? I want to do better, I want to be stronger, I want you to stay a little longer Oh but honey, it’s time I told you goodbye Maybe I love you, you know that I want you, but I need someone to talk to Oh so honey, it’s time I told you goodbye All alone and I’m doing fine, then you show up and you drink my wine And in some ways, it feels like home We drink and we dance and we talk and romance til I think we’ve got another chance But then I wake up sad and alone (oh, oh, oh) You’re like the Sirens singing their song (oh, oh, oh) You’re so lovely that it strings me along (oh, oh, oh) Oh darlin’ this could last for years If I can’t find the strength to cover my ears I want to do better, I want to be stronger, I want you to stay a little longer Oh but honey, it’s time I told you goodbye Maybe I love you, you know that I want you, but I need someone to talk to Oh so honey, it’s time I told you goodbye

He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can Doesn’t give a damn, About your fashion or your folly He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can They laid him right down in the alley He was well read but then, He took a sledge blow to the head So he had to learn to do, everything all over Before he was hit he could beat anyone in town Checkmate he’d call out and then he’d order another round He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can Doesn’t give a damn, About your fashion or your folly He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can They laid him down low in the alley His hands are rough but they can make a guitar sing And that hard man you know will play a sweet song for his supper He’s got a voice grittier than sandpaper, and stronger than whiskey It’ll linger in your mind at night and haunt you in your dreams He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can Doesn’t give a damn, About your fashion or folly He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can They laid him right down in the alley The man’s got a heart of gold, and with a little luck he might still grow old His story’s one that will make your blood run cold Now he’s back, and those guitar strings are singing But next time he’ll think twice ‘for he goes fighting for a woman He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can Doesn’t give a damn, About your fashion or your folly He’s a blue collar man, Makes his money where he can They laid him right down in the alley

Through the window peaks the sun She feels like the only one And her father with his head still hung, cause he’s done. Inside she still feels dead But she knows she gotta move ahead Yeah she hops right our of her bed, to break her bread. Her daddy just casts a smile Cause he knows they’ve both got a while It won’t be easy to walk with style, but they gotta try. A new morning has begun Rain clouds bow down to the sun Finally they begin to move on, to greet the dawn. This town ain’t cut out for her Though neither was the other As long as they stick together, now and forever. She hopes that there will be Some peace near shady trees She’ll search far beyond the seas, just to feel the breeze. Her daughter laughs out loud And mama feels so proud Thinking she has figured it out, without a doubt. A new morning has begun Rain clouds bow down to the sun Maybe they can move on, to greet the dawn. Sometimes we’re years far behind Even though we’re running out of time But keep on moving down the line, It’s gonna be fine Cause if this journey never ends Then I’m not gonna worry about when No I can’t cry about what has been, Or all my sin. I’ve felt my heart grow Through loving and letting go Yes this life has been a great show, that I know A new morning has begun Rain clouds bow down to the sun I hope I can move on, to greet the dawn.

Its that southland flame that keeps calling me back, to the land where the fires meet the sea But still when I get there the one thing on my mind, is if you’ll still be waiting there for me I’m goin’ away little Darlin’, and I can’t stand to see you so blue So I tell you today that I won’t go astray, and my heart will be waiting here for you It’ll be a long time coming, a long time from now, when that long wait to see you finally ends With so many miles of twisty roads, of mountainsides and tidal flows and faces looking back from now to then When I sit alone at night and gaze up to the sky, I wait for darkness to slowly fade to day And when the shining sun appears I get a smile on my face, I think of you as colors wash away the grey I’m goin’ away little Darlin’, and I can’t stand to see you so blue So I tell you today that I won’t go astray, and my heart will be waiting here for you But for now my darlin’ I must say fare thee well, and travel to that far away land But remember what I told you, how our love will never fade, and that soon again we’ll be walking hand in hand I’m goin’ away little Darlin’, and I can’t stand to see you so blue So I tell you today that I won’t go astray, and my heart will be waiting here for you
