lyrics

I once was a gamblin' man
Never had a winning hand

Til one night I met Miss Sally Ann
With a smile on her face and an ace in her hand.

Old Jack Henry came through the door.
Said I see you have a new lady friend.

She better bring you some lady luck
You owe me half a grand and your Model A truck.

Step up boy it's time to roll the dice.
I saw the look in his eyes, no time to think twice.

But Sally was quicker, said please allow me.
She counted out loud - one - two three.

What came next is hard to say
she blew on the dice and threw them away.

Someone was sure they saw snake eyes.
Shouts rang out and bullets began to fly.

I had blood on my clothes but it was not my own
Sally was there - we had escaped the fray.

And that's the story of my lady luck
I still have Jack Henry's money and my Model A truck.

I once was a gamblin' man
Never had a winning hand

Til one night I met Miss Sally Ann
A smile on her face and a gun in her hand.
