lyrics

As the rain poured down on the tin roof above
That feeling started to set in
Walking out the door to feel the water running over
For a moment it felt like I was home

Those raindrops felt like the tears of the angels
Laughing from having too much fun
It was a strange thing to hope for dark and stormy weather
But that sunshine it seemed so much worse

Longing for that moment to stare at the walls
To be deafened by the heavens wide open
A slow cup of coffee under a tap dance show
And for some time no sweat on my brow.

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain

The smoke rose up and the ashes fell down
Like black snow hiding in the dark
In the distance you hear, the sound of sugar crackling
And the fires of hell marching on.

There’s no use in lying down, with silence there is no sleep
Cause there’s nothing to drown out the voice
While a living is burned away and a plate remains empty
All one can hope for is a little noise

Longing for that moment when the stars disappear
And the quiet night is lost with a bang
Hell's fury will wait, and the work will be done
but all I care about is that I can finally sleep

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain

It’s an odd thing when the clouds are lifted with a storm
And thunder is the sound that brings peace
A downpour can drown the world but wash you up on heaven’s shores
For a moment until you drift back to sea
